The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is a professional certification group that certifies professionals and shops in the automotive repair and service industry in the United States and parts of Canada.
What does it mean for you that a technician be ASE certified?
- It means your vehicle is being serviced by the best professional technicians around. ASE Master Technician must pass a large amount of written tests, and show two years of relevant hands-on experience. And ASE Master Technicians must re-certify each test EVERY five years.
- It takes the guesswork out of finding a good solid auto mechanic. We’ve all experienced making a bad decision. Current ASE certified Master Technicians make the decision more sound.
- You can find ASE technicians with special certifications for your individual vehicle needs. There are eight tests for auto technicians alone: Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Brakes, Heating and Air Conditioning, Suspension and Steering, Manual Drive Train and Axles, and Automatic Transmissions.
- Certification needs to be updated at least every five years. You can be assured that a shop with an ASE Master Technician has been trained on new issues regarding vehicle repair & maintenance.
