Mini Cooper’s Variable Transmission (ECVT) issues:

Driving an automatic transmission equipped MINI COOPER earlier than 2008 model year?

Variable TransmissionYou may have the 5 speed electronic “constantly variable transmission “(ECVT), identified by the absence of “shift paddles” on your steering wheel.

If you do have an ECVT – be sure you’re having the transmission fluid changed at every “Inspection 1” service interval – that comes around every other “oil service”!

Special “refill procedure” and fluid (EZL 799 A) goes along with this maintenance!

Be careful who you allow to perform this service – much can go wrong soon after, if not done right.
